Toddler Survives Alone After Tragedy

Police in Cangnan, East China's Zhejiang Province, on Tuesday issued a statement that provided details concerning an online report that "a mother had passed away unexpectedly, with her young son staying by her body for several days before being discovered."

The case refers to an incident reported in Qianku town on August 17. Upon receiving the report, the Cangnan public security bureau immediately dispatched officers to the scene, according to the statement by the bureau.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the involved people were a 28-year-old woman from Cangnan surnamed Zheng who was divorced and lived with her 2-year-old son, it said.

The child was taken to the hospital by the police for examination and evaluation, and no health issues were found. The boy has since been taken into his father's care, and local authorities and relevant departments will continue to follow up the situation of the boy and give relevant support. The investigation into the cause of death of the mom and related matters are still underway, the police statement said. 

The police urged the public to respect the deceased, protect the child's privacy, refrain from spreading images, videos, or unverified information.
