On August 30, 2025, Shanghai issued a yellow heat alert as the city braces for record-breaking temperatures. As of August 30, Shanghai has experienced 25 consecutive days of scorching temperatures this summer, surpassing the previous 1926 record of 24 days of continuous high heat. This extreme weather has left locals both relieved and curious.

One user joked, "Good news! The August heat is almost over!" While many others are left wondering about how people survived during the intense heat wave of 1926.

Weather forecasts suggest a slight change ahead. On Sunday, the day is expected to remain mostly cloudy, with brief, localized thunderstorms in the afternoon.

By Sunday night and into Monday, Shanghai will experience a significant weather shift with widespread rain, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms. The timing is crucial as the rain will coincide with the start of the school year for all elementary and middle school students across the city, urging commuters to be extra cautious.

Despite the impending showers, temperatures will remain high. By early next week, temperatures are expected to drop slightly to 32–34°C, but wilonce again surge past the 35°C mark by the end of the week. This phenomenon, often called the "Autumn Tiger," will bring even higher heat levels than typical for the time of year, making continued precautions against heat-related illnesses essential.
