Shanghai, August 16, 2025 — The Shanghai Public Security Traffic Police Corps has issued a public notice detailing a temporary traffic control plan for the areas surrounding Shanghai Stadium.

The measures will be enforced from August 17 to August 24, 2025, in anticipation of large-scale gatherings due to upcoming concerts.

The decision aims to ensure safety and order during the events, particularly the TNT (Teens in Times) concerts, scheduled to take place at Shanghai Stadium from August 20 to 24. Authorities emphasized the need to prevent widespread congestion and maintain public safety throughout the period.

In short — if you are near or passing through Shanghai Stadium (Xuhui District), you may be affected. The specific road names can get a little complicated, so just follow the traffic signs and on-site police directions to avoid delays.

Road Closures and Restrictions:

  • Lingling Road (between Caoxi and Tianyaoqiao): Two southbound lanes (1 for motor vehicles, 1 for non-motor vehicles) will be closed, with the remaining four lanes open (2 motor, 2 non-motor, bidirectional).

  • Tianyaoqiao Road (between Lingling Road  and Zhongshan South Second Road): Two west-side lanes will be closed, but motor vehicle traffic (north to south) and bidirectional non-motor vehicle traffic will continue.

  • Zhongshan South Second Road (between Tianyaoqiao and Longhua West Road): The north-side auxiliary lane on the elevated road will be closed. However, the on-ramp at Tianyaoqiao and the main eastbound lanes will remain open.

In addition, temporary restrictions may be applied dynamically within a broader zone bordered by Wanping South Road, Xietu Road, Nandan (East) Road, Yishan Road, Qinzhou Road, Caobao Road, Longcao Road, Longwu Road, and Longhua (West) Road. Non-essential vehicles will be restricted from entering the regulated zone.

Emergency vehicles such as police, fire, ambulance, and engineering rescue vehicles will be allowed access during the control period.

The Xuhui Branch of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau and its traffic management department may adjust the timing or range of the traffic control measures depending on real-time road conditions.

Residents and commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly and stay updated through official communication channels.
