BEIJING – A Japanese woman with a child was injured in an attack by an unidentified person at a subway station in Suzhou, China, according to Japan's embassy on Aug 1. The victim received hospital treatment and is not in critical condition.
Chinese authorities confirmed the suspect was detained and said they remain committed to protecting the safety of foreigners.
Japan has urged China to prevent similar incidents and ensure the security of its nationals.
This follows a similar case in Suzhou last year and reflects ongoing sensitivities in bilateral ties
