WeChat Update ： No More ‘Annoying Likes’ from Mutual Friends

On July 1, the hashtag "WeChat No Longer Notifies Mutual Friends Likes" topped the trending list.

Recently, WeChat has quietly rolled out a new feature for its Moments feed called "Do Not Receive Like Notifications from Mutual Friends" in a limited beta release. Once enabled, when mutual friends like or comment on your Moments posts, the system will no longer send red-dot notifications. However, users can still see these interactions in the message list. In other words, you won't be disturbed by notifications for mutual friends' activity, but can still check them at your convenience.

How to enable:

After updating WeChat to the latest version, go to Me → Moments → My Moments → Tap the top-right "…" → Message List → Tap the top-right "…" again → Message Management. Here, you will find a new option called "Only notify interactions between friends and me".

Please note, this feature is currently in a gray-scale test phase and is available only to a subset of users.
