Client Profile:

A Canadian national with a background in marketing and cross-border e-commerce.

Previously worked remotely with Chinese partners and wanted to formalize business operations in China.

Moved to Shanghai in late 2024 with the goal of setting up a company and obtaining a work visa to support on-the-ground business development.

Our Solution:

Company Registration in Shanghai: We assisted the client in establishing a WFOE (Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise) focused on digital marketing and consulting services. We supported the full process, including name pre-approval, business license acquisition, tax registration, and bank account opening. We also ensured that the business scope met local regulatory requirements and visa support standards.

Work Permit Application (Type B): We advised the client to apply under the "Investor/Legal Representative" category, which does not require a bachelor's degree or extensive corporate experience. We prepared all supporting documents, including proof of investment, company structure, and the client's personal credentials. The application was submitted in December 2024 and approved in January 2025.

Residence Permit Issuance: Following the work permit approval, we facilitated the residence permit process through the Shanghai Exit-Entry Bureau. We registered the client's local address and completed all required health and security checks.

Outcome:

As of January 2025, the client holds a one-year residence permit tied to their role in the newly established company.Now the client is legally residing and working in Shanghai with full compliance.
