According to multiple sources, the individual involved was Captain Li, an employee at the CSA Jilin base. The altercation took place around 11:00 AM during a meeting regarding Li's recent performance evaluation, where his qualification assessment was deemed unsatisfactory. During the discussion, Li allegedly stabbed Liu, the Party Secretary of the Flight Department, and Zhu, the Department Manager.
Subsequently, two others—namely the chairman of the local labor union and a ground staff member—attempted to intervene and were also injured in the process. After attacking four individuals, Li reportedly proceeded to the 15th floor of the building, broke a window, and jumped to his death.
On July 2, reporters from Xiaoxiang Morning Post attempted to contact the public hotline of CSA's Jilin branch but were unable to reach a representative. A police officer from Yangjiadian Police Station in Changchun's Erdao District confirmed that a report had been filed on July 1 and the case had since been handed over to the criminal investigation department for further handling.
That evening, the Public Security Bureau of Erdao District issued an official statement:
"At 10:22 AM on July 1, 2025, a criminal case occurred at the intersection of Jilin Road and Yangpu West Street in Changchun's Erdao District. Li, a 31-year-old employee of China Southern Airlines Jilin Branch, stabbed his colleagues Huang (52) and Li (47) due to a workplace dispute, and subsequently jumped to his death. Both injured parties were hospitalized and are currently in stable condition. The case remains under investigation."
