An online English tutor's classroom outburst - yelling 'get out' at a first-grader - has sparked fury and demands for accountability.
A Beijing mother recently posted online about a distressing incident in which a foreign teacher at TigerSchool, an online education platform, shouted "get out" at her 7-year-old daughter during a one-on-one lesson, frightening the child to tears.
On the afternoon of May 23, the mother, surnamed Gu, told reporters that her daughter had since shown signs of psychological distress. The family has suspended all online classes and is currently seeking a psychological evaluation at a medical institution.
While TigerSchool has refunded the tuition fees and dismissed the teacher involved, Gu said she cannot accept how the instructor's aggressive behavior affected her daughter. She is demanding not only compensation but also a public apology from the platform.
TigerSchool, however, has refused these additional requests, maintaining that refunding the fees and terminating the teacher were sufficient measures. Gu has consulted lawyers and plans to take further legal action once her daughter's psychological assessment is complete.
