A comprehensive social governance center in Inner Mongolia has successfully mediated a cross-border domestic dispute.
The case involved a Chinese citizen, referred to as "J," and a foreign national, identified as "P," who had been in a relationship since 2018 and lived together for seven years before their relationship broke down. After J ended the relationship and asked P to move out, P initially agreed but later repeatedly returned to the residence without permission—sometimes forcing entry—while J was away, exacerbating the conflict. Given the involvement of a foreign national, the case presented legal complexities and heightened emotional challenges, requiring careful handling to avoid further escalation.
Upon receiving the case, the mediation center assembled a specialized team consisting of public security officers, community workers, and professional mediators. The team adopted a balanced approach, combining legal guidance with emotional counseling. They helped both parties understand their rights and responsibilities while providing psychological support to ease P's resistance, encouraging a rational resolution.
After hours of separate discussions and direct negotiations, the mediators proposed a fair arrangement for post-dispute living arrangements, ultimately securing a mutual agreement. The successful intervention resolved the conflict at an early stage, preventing potential legal or security repercussions.
