A street thief thought he got away with a stolen camera—until a Chinese man put him in a chokehold and took it back.
Recently in Barcelona, Spain, a Chinese photographer fell victim to a street theft. His companion responded swiftly, restraining the thief using a chokehold and successfully recovering the stolen camera.
Video footage taken by a bystander shows the photographer's friend telling the thief, "Relax! Don't struggle! I won't choke you as long as you don't move!"
After the incident, Mr. Tian, one of those involved, told reporters: "One of the thieves took my friend's phone to distract us, and suddenly another person ran off with our camera. We immediately chased him down and caught him. I've trained in freestyle fighting, so I used a rear naked choke to control him. A passerby helped call the police, and they arrived quickly. The officer told us 'OK, you did very well, and he wasn't injured."
The video also shows police soon arriving to handle the situation, while the surrounding crowd applauded the decisive response from the Chinese individuals.
