How to Tell If Your Dog Is Chinese? One Blogger Put It to the Test
An American blogger had a hilarious idea one day: what if you could test whether your dog is Chinese?

The method? Offer it a Chinese red date (jujube) — hong zao (红枣). Yep, that's it.
Red dates are a staple in many Chinese households. Sweet, chewy, and packed with nutrients, they're often found in teas, soups, or just eaten as snacks.
Online sources say red dates are safe for dogs if you don't go overboard. They're high in natural sugars, so too many could lead to weight gain, dental problems, or tummy troubles.
And here's a biggie: always remove the pit before giving one to your pup. That little seed in the center can be a choking hazard or cause digestive issues. Not worth the risk, no matter how curious your dog looks.
So back to our blogger.
He handed a pitless red date to his dog, Nova. She sniffed it. And then — she gobbled it right up.
Does this mean Nova's a Chinese dog? "Who knows — but I'm convinced." Someone said.
The internet, of course, had a field day. Other Chinese users chimed in with even funnier ideas.
One said, try saying "嘬嘬嘬" (pronounced zuō zuō zuō) — a classic sound many Chinese people use to call over or play with dogs.
If the dog perks up or wags its tail? That's solid "evidence," they say.
Of course, all of this is just for fun.
Your dog might not care for red dates. Or it might love them. Either way, it's a fun excuse to bond with your furry friend.
No matter their background, breed, or taste in snacks, dogs are — and always will be — our best friends.
