10-month-old Baby's Journey

from Recurrent Infections to

Successful Laparoscopic Surgery

From the age of 3 months, Billy (pseudonym) experienced fever 7 times due to urinary tract infections. Tests confirmed that it was caused from a short segment of the ureter within the bladder wall. Continued conservative treatment would lead to permanent kidney damage due to recurrent infections. However, at 10 months old, the baby's bladder was small and the tissues were fragile, making reconstruction extremely difficult. Jiahui Pediatrics invited Dr. Bi Yunli, along with Dr. Eric Li and Dr. Wu Yibo from the pediatric surgery team, to perform laparoscopic bladder enlargement with bilateral ureter reimplantation for Billy. The surgery, which lasted only 2 hours, was successful, and Billy was discharged from the hospital after just 5 days.

Swift Transfers: Collaborative Care Reduces Wait Times for Child with Encephalitis"

A 6-year-old boy went to Jiahui Health (Yangpu) for treatment due to fever and headache. Dr. Zhang Xu, a pediatrician at Yangpu Clinic, quickly discovered that the child had infectious fever and suspected encephalitis, which is inflammation in the brain.  He coordinated the transfer to Jiahui International Hospital on the same day, and the child was immediately hospitalized. During this time, encephalitis was confirmed after completing relevant examinations. After diagnosis and careful care by the Jiahui pediatric team, the child was successfully discharged after 4 days of hospitalization.

After Two Other Hospital Visits

The teenager had a sore throat and fever.  After two consultations at different hospitals where he tested negative for influenza, the exact cause remained unknown. Concerned, the mother took him to Jiahui International Hospital's Pediatrics Department for treatment.  Even though three tests had been conducted, the doctor suspected a different strain. Eventually, the child was tested and diagnosed with both Influenza A and Scarlett Fever (Group A Streptococcus). Following symptomatic treatment, the child slowly started to recover.

A child from Singapore swiftly recovered from infectious Mononucleosis and a drug-resistant Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection. The parents expressed their gratitude to the attentive Jiahui team for their care.

To engage children's interests and reduce anxiety about medical treatment, many clinics are equipped with beds designed to resemble playful dinosaurs and cars.

Volunteer Care in the Inpatient Ward

At Jiahui, not only will psychotherapists be invited to make rounds with the pediatric team according to the condition of the child, but Jiahui Social Work will also be ready to help as a team of 200+ international volunteers to regularly provide puppet performances, art therapy, and parent-child interaction in games for hospitalized children.

VP of Pediatrics, Jiahui Health

Dr. Teng Guoliang

"Children are not just smaller versions of adults; they often struggle to accurately express their discomfort or provide timely feedback about treatments. Additionally, they are more delicate and vulnerable during surgeries and treatments, which places greater demands on the professionalism, patience, and empathy of the pediatric healthcare team.

Jiahui Pediatrics places a high priority on developing its specialty. The focus is not only on comprehensiveness but also on expertise and strength, continually improving the ability to diagnose and treat complex conditions and perform surgeries for trauma and emergencies. Moreover, the team is dedicated to helping families navigate both internal and external resources, bridging gaps in multidisciplinary collaborative care to truly support children's growth."
