New WeChat Feature Lets You Delete Contacts Who Have Removed or Blocked You

WeChat has rolled out a new feature that allows users to delete all "one-way friends" in their contact list at once. This feature, which has been highly anticipated by users, now provides an efficient way to manage contacts and maintain a clutter-free friend list.

Previously, WeChat allowed users to delete up to five contacts at a time from their friend list. However, with the latest update, users can now delete multiple contacts who have either blocked or deleted them from their friend list. 

Once the limit of 10,000 contacts is reached, WeChat will notify users that no more friends can be added. Following this, users are directed to the "Deleted Contacts" list, where they can continue to delete the one-way friends, five at a time, until all such contacts are removed.

Screenshots shared by multiple users on social media revealed that the new update directly displays "recommended deletions," showing which users have removed them from their friend list. The feature also provides additional information such as whether the other party has deactivated their WeChat account, the time and method of adding the contact, the last contact date, and the absence of chat history on the current device. This allows users to make more informed decisions about who to delete.

This is particularly useful for those who have large contact lists and want to remove people who no longer engage with them or have chosen to sever the connection.

The ability to identify and manage one-way friends was initially introduced in WeChat last year. In October, WeChat added a feature that allows users to view contacts who had removed them or stopped interacting. This feature included options for filtering and selectively deleting these contacts.

In December of the previous year, WeChat also enhanced its PC version. By clicking on the "Contacts" button and accessing the "Contact Management" page, users can easily edit contact names, tags, permissions, and even delete multiple contacts at once.
