LOT Polish Airlines extends Beijing cancellations to 2026.
In a recent update to its flight schedule, LOT Polish Airlines has extended its suspension of direct flights between Warsaw and Beijing, further delaying any resumption of service until at least the first quarter of 2026. The Star Alliance member, which had originally planned to resume flights on March 30, 2025, has now removed its previously scheduled three weekly flights on the Warsaw-Beijing Capital route.
These flights, which were to be operated by a Boeing 787-8, had been a part of the airline's broader effort to reconnect long-haul destinations, but ongoing challenges in demand and route competitiveness appear to have impacted the airline's decision. The flight schedules had initially been set as follows:
  • Flight LO091: Warsaw (WAW) 14:40 – Beijing (PEK) 06:50+1 (operated by Boeing 787-8)
  • Flight LO092: Beijing (PEK) 08:50 – Warsaw (WAW) 14:30 (operated by Boeing 787-8)
The cancellation of these services comes after LOT Polish Airlines made the decision in October 2024 to suspend its direct Warsaw-Beijing flights for the 2024-2025 winter season, citing poor sales and the increasing competitiveness of alternative routes.
As of now, the airline's schedule for future years, including the first quarter of 2026, does not list any flights to Beijing, signaling a more extended hiatus for this route.
LOT Polish Airlines has not elaborated on the specific reasons behind the extended suspension, but the airline industry has continued to face challenges, including fluctuating demand for international travel, especially in the Asia-Europe market. The ongoing complexities in global travel, coupled with shifting consumer preferences, are likely influencing the airline's decision to focus on more profitable or strategically important routes.
For travelers with plans to fly between Warsaw and Beijing, it is advised to check with the airline for updates, as further changes to the schedule may be announced depending on evolving market conditions.
