Recently, during an appearance on a popular variety show, Li Chengxuan and his wife, Chinese singer and actress Qi Wei, discussed his long-awaited receipt of the China "Five-Star Card" (中华人民共和国外国人永久居留身份证, or Chinese Permanent Resident Identity Card), sparking a wave of discussions among netizens.

Having lived and worked in China for 19 years, Li Chengxuan is now officially granted permanent residency in the country. Expressing his excitement, he shared that the "Five-Star Card" functions almost identically to the regular Chinese ID card. It allows him to access healthcare services, take high-speed trains using his card, and even use facial recognition for hotel check-ins. The experience, as he described, is smooth and convenient, providing him with significant ease in his daily life.

Qi Wei and Li Chengxuan, both prominent public figures, are well-known in the entertainment industry. Qi Wei, a talented actress and singer, gained widespread popularity in China for her roles in various TV dramas and her music career. Meanwhile, Li Chengxuan is known not only for his acting but also his music and his role as Qi Wei's husband.

The fact that Li Chengxuan has just obtained the Five-Star Card drew significant attention and sparked online debates. One user, curious about the lengthy process, asked, "Do even celebrities need this long to get a green card?" This prompted many discussions about the challenges and intricacies involved in obtaining permanent residency in China.

It is well-known that securing permanent residency in China is no easy feat. The "Five-Star Card" is typically granted through several avenues, including employment-based applications, spousal reunification, foreign doctoral degree holders, and recognition of special talents. Despite having lived in the country for decades, many foreigners still find themselves unable to obtain the coveted green card.
