Hotels are penalised for failing to register foreign guests。

Recently, the police in Zhangzha Town, Jiuzhaigou County, Sichuan Province, South China, imposed fines on two hotels under their jurisdiction for neglecting to register foreign visitors.

The immigration administration department of Jiuzhaigou County and the Zhangzha Town PSB officers discovered that two hotels in the town had failed to register foreign visitors in accordance with the law, according to the police report.

They learned of this revelation during a routine inspection of hotels in the town earlier this month.

Further investigation revealed that on August 6, a hotel in Pengfeng Village, code-named "A" in the report, neglected to register and disclose information about foreign residents to the police. On August 12, another hotel in Zhangzha Village, code-named B in the report, also neglected to register and submit the accommodation information of foreign travellers residing there to the police.

The police reminded the hotel staff that they must promptly register and report any information about foreign guests they have hosted. The police also reminded those who host foreign visitors to request that they register at the nearest police station.

Additionally, individuals have the option to proactively report and register information regarding foreign visitors who are currently residing at their residences within a 24-hour period.

The #ChinaTravel hashtag has been a trending topic on social media, encouraging many foreign tourists to access the country, as China further opened up to the world last year.China welcomed the increase in foreign tourism and responded by reducing the entry requirements for foreign tourists and implementing measures to improve their travel experience in China, including accommodation and payment services.

For instance, earlier this year, the country ordered hotels to not refuse foreign visitors' accommodation for any reason, unless otherwise specified.

Nevertheless, the police have recently reported that certain hotels and individuals have been accommodating foreign tourists without registering and reporting their information to the police. This could have real-world consequences for foreigners' experiences during their subsequent travel or residence in China.

To address this issue, police and immigration officers have been conducting visits to hotels and individuals who host foreign guests to raise awareness of the law.

Furthermore, they have disseminated articles detailing the penalties imposed on individuals or hotels for neglecting to register and report information about foreign guests.

For example, the police in Weixian County, Hebei Province, recently disclosed a report regarding a foreign national from Vietnam who entered the country and resided in Weixian for more than six months without registering or disclosing their information to the local police.

Chu failed to register her accommodation information with the local authorities upon her arrival on February 17, this year, leading to her denial of a residence permit in the county. In addition to being unable to obtain a residence permit, she was required to pay a punishment of 1,000 yuan in accordance with the law.
