Recently, the first foreign traveler nationwide successfully paid personal postal articles tax using an overseas bank card (referred to as "foreign card") at Gongbei Customs under the jurisdiction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Customs.

Mr. L (LO DO NASCIMENTO), a foreign traveler, completed the personal postal articles tax payment process upon entry at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Customs. The customs officer entered the required duty amount of 150 RMB into the POS machine, and Mr. L used his overseas bank card to directly swipe and complete the payment of the customs duty. Upon receipt of the duty payment transferred by the collecting bank, the national treasury processed the deposit according to relevant regulations. This marks the first implementation of the "Overseas Bank Card + Travel Inspection Personal Postal Articles Tax Payment" scenario at ports nationwide. "I didn't need to exchange RMB or bind WeChat. I could just use this bank card I frequently use overseas to pay the customs duty, which is really convenient," Mr. L said.

"Next, we will work actively and prudently with relevant departments such as banks to promote the payment of customs duty with overseas bank cards, continuously improving cross-border clearance efficiency," said Yang Qiuyi, Deputy Director of the Finance Department at Gongbei Customs.
