Foreigner Blamed for Allegedly Secretly Filming Dual-Use Military and Civilian Airport
On June 12th, during a flight from Yiwu to Beijing, a foreign passenger was suspected of clandestinely photographing a dual-use military and civilian airport by placing his mobile phone outside the sunshade. A fellow passenger reported this activity. Personnel at Yiwu Airport confirmed that photography on the runway is prohibited at dual-use airports and that the matter would be reported to the public security authorities.
Jun Zhengping, a military affairs commentator, emphasized the importance of adhering to this regulation due to its implications for national security. In a post dated May 14th, Jun explained that dual-use airports primarily serve civilian transportation but are also available for Air Force routine training flights and military use during wartime. These airports often host active military aircraft, making it imperative for passengers not to open sunshades or engage in photography or videography during takeoff, taxiing, and landing at these specialized facilities.
According to available data, as of 2017, there were 64 operational dual-use airports in China, accounting for 28.4% of the country's total number of transport airports. These airports are typically located in regions with less developed infrastructure. While they play a significant role in boosting local economic development, they also provide convenience for the vast majority of travelers. Jun stresses that national defense security is a matter of great importance and that every citizen has a responsibility and obligation to cooperate with the security measures at dual-use airports. He urges all passengers to strictly comply with the relevant regulations to ensure safety and security.
