Flood Warning: Heavy Rainfalls to Hit China Early This Year




Chinas Ministry of Water Resources has warned that floods are expected to hit the country and called on relevant departments to take necessary precautions in preparation of worsening weather conditions.


Heavy rain has already hit parts of southern, eastern and central China since Wednesday, pushing water levels in some rivers well above warning lines, the ministry said.


China entered its flood season on Saturday, four days earlier than previous years, expecting more, stronger rain throughout this years flood season as weather forecast nears the extreme in some parts of the country.


Minister of Water Resources, E Jingping, has stressed the importance of repairing water conservancy facilities and preparing them for future potential damages ahead of the flood season to ensure undisrupted operations.


Jingping also called for more efforts on managing reservoirs, preventing mountain floods and improving the overall precision of flood forecast.
