Food Delivery Man Waits Outside for 1 Hour Just Because...

Food delivery men can have it tough. Weve seen them brave thousands of steps up steep mountains, riding through snow and rainstorms.

But sometimes, their perseverance and dedication to their work receive much-deserved praise, as it did recently for one delivery man in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.

On December 12, a father, whose son had experienced problems sleeping due to pressure and stress from studying for his postgraduate entrance exam and was then taking a nap, ordered food on one of Chinas popular food delivery apps so as to not make any noise in the kitchen.

In his order, the father added a note: Please dont ring the doorbell. Unfortunately for the person delivering his order, that customer left his phone on mute and quickly forgot about his food.

It wasnt until he saw 47 missed calls after checking his phone that he remembered about his food order and rushed over to open the door. As it turned out, the delivery man had been waiting outside without ringing the doorbell, as instructed, for nearly one hour.

Apologetic, the father offered monetary compensation to make up for the mans wasted waiting time, which he kindly refused.

The customer took it to WeChat to share his experience and thank the delivery man for his professionalism.

After news broke out, more than a million netizens praised the delivery mans action on the internet.

When asked about it, he mentioned thinking that there must have been something special happening inside the apartment considering the note added to the order on the app. After calling the customer in vain dozens of times, he still felt the need to stay outside and wait because he felt responsible for making sure his customer would receive his order, as he feels for every order he delivers.

Some netizens criticized the customer for forgetting about his order.

What do you make of this? Have you ever ordered anything online and forgotten about it until moments after your delivery had already arrived?
