On Dec. 14th, 2019, police in southwest China's Yunnan Province arrested three suspects and seized 133.2 kg of methamphetamine.

After receiving a tip-off in mid-September that a drug-trafficking gang had transported drugs to China via border areas with the intent to sell, police in Longling County in the city of Baoshan set up a task force to investigate the case, according to the Office of Yunnan Provincial Narcotics Control Commission.

After more than two months of investigation, police captured the suspects in the China-Myanmar border county of Cangyuan in the city of Lincang at around 9 p.m. on Dec. 6, with seven bags of methamphetamine weighing 133.2 kg seized from the back seat and the trunk of an off-road vehicle driven by a suspect. Another suspected vehicle was also seized on the spot.

Thanks to the capture, police have successfully busted a drug gang that had been trafficking drugs from abroad to China for a long time, local police said.

Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crime, as it borders the Golden Triangle known for its rampant drug production and trafficking.
