Shanghai artist Zhang Ruyis exhibition dwells on ideas of location, of spatial awareness and our way of perceiving the world through physical objects. The Annual Report of OCD Zhang Peili Solo Exhibition
Flyer courtesy of Ren Space
Zhang Peili breaks off bits off himself for this exhibition, quite literally. The artist recreates his own skeleton and lays it across a surface in pieces, he uses some of his urine in a painting and takes some of his own blood to be encased in a glass structure. That is to name but a few of the fascinating ways in which Zhang explores the idea of ones body. Taking place across multiple rooms on three floors, this exhibition is both thrilling and frighteningly existential.
