Starbucks Adapts to China's Consumer Trend with New Concept Shop

Based on their layouts and designs, Luckin Coffee shops are purposed for fast delivery: they only boast a few seats and are usually located in areas with high demand for coffee.  Those typically include office buildings, business districts, and university campuses.

What's more, the cost of an express store is lower, which is why the size of the store has grown so quickly.

Now, Starbucks is catching up on services with younger rivals like Luckin coffee.

On July 17, Starbucks opened a new fast coffee concept shop in Beijing.

The store has only a few seats and encourages customers to pre-order via a mobile app to pick up their coffee at the store without having to wait in line and place an order on site. The new model will also benefit the coffee shop's delivery.

In May, Starbucks launched its Mobile Order & Pay Service, which allows customers to place an order online and pick up their beverage or food at a store without the hassle of waiting.

Beijings store is located in the city's financial district, with the main goal of making peoples day by getting them their coffee more efficiently.

Starbucks China said it plans to expand its fast coffee concept stores to more cities across the country, with strategic locations in high-traffic areas such as core business districts and transportation hubs.

Which of the two do you prefer? Starbucks or Luckin?
