If you're planning to travel during China's National Day holiday, here's some good news: flights are cheaper than they've been in years.
According to travel platform Qunar, flight prices from September 27 to October 1 will hit their lowest average in three years for the same period. Some popular routes are over 10% cheaper than last year.
For example, flying out of Beijing on September 27 to Dalian, Shenyang, Daqing, or Yinchuan costs just over 300 yuan.
Why So Cheap?
This year, the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays are only three days apart. That has sparked a viral trend: take just 3 days of annual leave between the two holidays – and unlock a 13-day super holiday.
As a result, the travel rush is more spread out, with fewer extreme price spikes. Qunar reported a 52% year-on-year increase in people taking leave from September 28–30.

Travelers Are Booking Early
People aren't waiting:
Hotel bookings in popular cities are up nearly 40% year-on-year.
Flight bookings a month in advance are up 21% compared to last year.
Top cities for early hotel bookings include Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Xi'an, Beijing, Qingdao, Suzhou, Nanjing, Sanya, and Taiyuan. Chengdu took the top spot.
Smart Travel Tips
September 22 – the working day before the Mid-Autumn Festival – is the cheapest day to fly, with prices 30% lower than the first day of the holiday and 50% lower than October 1.
Return travel is also more spread out this year, making prices more forgiving across the board.
Whether you're planning a getaway or a trip home, this year's National Day holiday might be the most budget-friendly in recent memory.
