Walking Through History:

A Glimpse of Old Shanghai

Our journey began in the historic Jinchao Eight Lanes (今潮8弄) - a living museum of Haipai culture. Guided by a renowned city walk curator, our students strolled through restored brick houses that blend East and West, past vintage balconies and narrow courtyards echoing with old Shanghai charm.

From the elegant Bajin Library, where China's modern literature once flourished, to the Haipai Culture Center, which reimagines Shanghai's cinematic past, every corner told a story - and every story deepened our connection to this city of contrasts.

Cheers to Friendship:

High Mountains & Flowing Water

At the next stop, our students were greeted with a "High Mountains and Flowing Water" welcome toast - a traditional Miao minority ceremony from Guizhou.

Accompanied by the staff's cheerful singing, their warm gestures symbolized lasting friendship and heartfelt hospitality. Laughter and clinking glasses made it clear: cultural exchange tastes best when shared together.

Flavors Without Borders:

The Chinese Food Challenge

Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for - the Chinese Cuisine Challenge!

Armed with chopsticks and curiosity, students tasted their way through three iconic dishes - scallion pancake, sliced beef and ox tripe in chili sauce, and the daring century egg - each paired with a different Chinese spirit.

It was equal parts daring and delicious. Some winced, some cheered, and all discovered a new favorite bite. In the end, a few "brave foodies"stood out and proudly took home small prizes - a sweet reward for their adventurous spirit!

Hands-On Delight: Xiaolongbao Workshop

The final stop was pure joy - a DIY Xiaolongbao workshop, where our students learned to fold, fill, and steam their own Shanghai soup dumplings.
