A couple running a traditional herbal medicine shop in southern China have both amused and stunned countless netizens after viral videos revealed their uncanny resemblance, prompting speculation that they might be long-lost twins.

Liang Caiyu, the wife, and He Xiansheng, both in their twenties and from Dongguan, Guangdong province, catapulted to fame on social media with short videos showcasing their striking likeness.

One viral video on their Douyin account, which has 21,000 followers, titled "Who's the Husband, Who's the Wife?", features the couple in matching wigs, mirroring each other's expressions, and standing side by side, creating an almost copy-and-paste effect.

In another video, "Putting Makeup on My Husband," the husband transforms to look just like his wife after a makeover, with the clip captioned "We are really sisters now" receiving 352,000 likes.

According to Liang, the couple, each hailing from families with a 40-year legacy in the traditional herbal medicine business, met through a blind date and married six months later.

After tying the knot, they co-founded a herbal medicine shop in 2023. The husband formulates herbal soups and tea blends, while the wife manages promotions.

"When we first met, I didn't think we looked alike at all," Liang shared.

"It was only after living together for several years that I slowly realised we resembled one another more. For the past two years, we've been together almost around the clock, working, eating, and resting together. I guess that's why we've become increasingly alike."

Although their business faced initial challenges in gaining traction, the couple's uncanny similarity soon became their unique promotional tool, attracting widespread attention.

Netizens began following their herbal medicine business due to their distinctive "couple look".

Though the naturally introverted husband initially struggled with cross-dressing on camera, he eventually went along after witnessing his wife's dedication to researching content ideas and editing videos late into the night.

"If it helps the business, I'll give it a try," he remarked.

In their spare time, the couple drive to their herb-picking base to film the selection, drying, and packaging processes.
