The Central Meteorological Observatory predicts that "Ragasa" will be the strongest "wind king" in the northwest Pacific since this year, with the maximum wind force in the center of the typhoon reaching 17 levels.
"Ragasa" will seriously affect Guangdong from September 23 to 25.
The Guangdong Provincial Meteorological Bureau reminded on the 21st that "Ragasa" is strong and has a large wind circle, which will bring serious impacts of wind, rain, and waves to the central and northern parts of the South China Sea, the sea surface of Guangdong, and the central and southern cities and counties of Guangdong.
According to the current typhoon path forecast, it is expected that typhoon yellow warning signals will be raised in all districts of Guangzhou from the night of September 22, and typhoon orange warning signals will be raised in the central and southern districts during the day of September 23.
According to the "Guangzhou Public Response to Major Meteorological Disasters Guidelines" and "Guangzhou Education System Response to Typhoon and Heavy Rain Disaster Weather Guidelines", classes should be suspended when a yellow or higher level typhoon warning signal is issued in the area.
At present, many places have issued notices to gradually implement the "five suspensions" measures (i.e., suspension of classes, work, production, transportation, and business).
It is necessary to be vigilant and make various preventive preparations in advance. "Ragasa" coincides with the astronomical high tide period, and it is necessary to be alert to storm surge disasters. Cities near the Pearl River Estuary need to be alert to seawater intrusion.
Ragasa's influence on Shanghai's weather will come mainly from the abundant moisture carried by the typhoon's outer southerly jet.
From Tuesday through Friday, under the combined effect of the typhoon's outer circulation and a weak cold front, the city will see frequent clouds and scattered showers, with the most noticeable rain expected during Wednesday daytime. Because these showers will be random, localized and occur in very humid air, the next 3–4 days are not ideal for laundry or drying clothes; keep an umbrella handy and check updated forecasts before going out. Temperatures will stay steady, ranging between 24 °C and 31 °C all week.
