The newly revised Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of Foreigners' Entry and Exit shall take effect on October 1, 2025. Please check out this post for the key contents of this amendment.

Q 1. What are the contents of this revision?

AaAdd a new "K" visa to the ordinary visa categories specified in the Regulations, clearly issued to foreign young sci-tech talents entering China.

b) Stipulate that applicants for the "K" visa shall meet the conditions and requirements for foreign young sci-tech talents set by China's relevant competent authorities and submit corresponding supporting materials.

Q 2: What conditions and requirements must be met to apply for the "K" visa? What supporting materials are needed?

A: The "K" visa is issued to foreign young sci-tech talents who have graduated from well-known domestic or foreign universities/research institutions with a bachelor's degree or above in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields, or engage in relevant professional education and research work in the aforesaid institutions. Specific conditions and requirements will be published on the websites of Chinese embassies and consulates abroad.

Q 3: What are the features of the "K" visa compared with existing visa types?

Answer: Compared with the existing 12 types of ordinary visas, the "K" visa offers more convenience to holders in terms of entry times, validity period and duration of stay. After entry, holders may engage in exchange activities in education, sci-tech, culture and other fields, as well as entrepreneurship and business activities. The "K" visa only has specific requirements on applicants' age, educational background or work experience, and does not require an employing or inviting entity in China. The application process will also be more convenient.
