Yellow Alerts for Heat & Heavy Rain : Some Areas May Reach 40°C

The National Meteorological Centre has issued yellow alerts for both high temperatures and heavy rainfall across various regions of China on June 25th.

The National Meteorological Centre continued to issue a yellow heat warning at 06:00 on June 25th. It is expected that on June 25th, the daytime temperatures in Beijing, Tianjin, northern and central Hebei, northern Shandong, central and eastern Inner Mongolia, southern Heilongjiang, central and western Jilin, central and western Liaoning, the Junggar Basin and southern Xinjiang, southern Jiangxi, Fujian, eastern Guangdong, and eastern Guangxi will exceed 35°C. Specifically, the temperature in southern Hebei, western Tianjin, northern Shandong, eastern Inner Mongolia, and southern Xinjiang may reach 37–39°C. Some areas, including southern Hebei and Turpan in Xinjiang, could experience temperatures surpassing 40°C.

Precautionary Measures:

1.Relevant authorities and departments should make preparations for heat prevention and cooling as per their responsibilities.

2.Minimize outdoor activities in the afternoon.

3.Provide heat prevention guidance for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, the sick, and children.

4.Workers involved in outdoor activities for extended periods or during peak heat hours should take necessary protective measures.

At the same time, the National Meteorological Centre issued a yellow rainstorm warning at 06:00 on June 25th. From 08:00 on June 25th to 08:00 on June 26th, heavy to torrential rainfall is expected in parts of southern Sichuan, Guizhou, eastern Chongqing, northwestern Hunan, central and western Hubei, southern Henan, northwestern Anhui, western Yunnan, western Guangdong, and the northeastern part of Hainan Island. In particular, areas such as central and western Hubei, northwestern Hunan, and central and western Guizhou could experience localized downpours with rainfall ranging from 100 to 130mm.

These regions may also see short-term intense rainfall (with hourly precipitation ranging from 20 to 50mm, and localized areas exceeding 60mm), along with thunderstorms and strong winds.

Precautionary Measures:

1.Government and relevant departments should take actions to mitigate the impact of the rainstorm in accordance with their duties.

2.Traffic management authorities should implement traffic control measures on roads prone to heavy rainfall, and guide traffic in flood-prone areas.

3.Cut off outdoor electrical sources in low-lying, dangerous areas, suspend outdoor activities in open spaces, and relocate people in danger zones and those in unsafe buildings to safe shelters.

4.Inspect and reinforce drainage systems in urban areas, farmland, and fish ponds, and take necessary flood control measures.
