A foreigner was fined RMB 1000 for violating entry rules in China. Taiyuan Border Inspection Station officers, under the Shanxi General Border Inspection Station, recently identified a foreign traveler who had exceeded the permitted visa-free stay by two days while inspecting outbound passengers. The individual's overstay constituted illegal residence under Chinese immigration regulations. In accordance with Article 78, Paragraph 1 of the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China, authorities imposed an administrative penalty of RMB 1,000 on the traveler. China's visa-free transit policy allows eligible foreign nationals to travel across designated areas within 24 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities. However, travelers must adhere strictly to the permitted stay duration to avoid penalties.
