According to media reports, on March 5, following an official investigation, the charge against Wang was downgraded from "attempted murder" to "assault." He was subsequently released on bail of 5 million New Taiwan Dollars (approximately 1.1 million RMB). After posting bail, Wang appeared at the courthouse dressed in black, pressing his hands together in a gesture of gratitude but refraining from answering specific questions from the media, repeatedly responding with "thank you" while wearing a face mask.

Reports indicate that Darren Wang's case surfaced during an unrelated investigation into his alleged draft evasion. Prosecutors, while reviewing content from his confiscated mobile phone, reportedly discovered a video implicating Wang and an associate, a man surnamed You, in an assault case from 2024.

In 2024, Wang had reportedly booked an airport pickup service upon returning to Taiwan. However, he was allegedly dissatisfied with the assigned Tesla vehicle. After a dispute over the driver taking an alternate route, Wang purportedly became frustrated upon realizing he could not open the Tesla's door properly. Witnesses claim he reacted by pounding on the car's window, leading to a heated altercation with the driver.

Following the incident, Wang reportedly complained about the matter to a wealthy friend, who then allegedly sought assistance from underworld connections. The driver and the dispatch personnel were later targeted and attacked in a violent confrontation.

The case remained unresolved as the injured driver had initially reported the attack but was unable to identify the assailants. However, while investigating Wang's draft evasion case, authorities discovered incriminating messages and images on his phone. Reports suggest that Wang had boasted about the assault to his friends and even kept photos of the injured victims as proof.

With this new evidence, the authorities reopened the case, linking Wang to the assault. He and the suspected assailant have since been detained, while other individuals involved in the attack are still under investigation.

Born on May 29, 1991, in Taiwan, Darren Wang rose to fame in 2015 with the release of the coming-of-age film Our Times, which became a box office hit in Taiwan. The movie's success propelled him into the public eye, making him a well-known figure in the entertainment industry. However, his recent legal troubles have cast a shadow over his career.
