On December 1, the topic "WeChat withdrawals now free of service fees" quickly trended on social media, sparking widespread discussion.

Netizens shared that when transferring money from their salary account directly into WeChat's "WeChat Pay" balance, they can withdraw it to their salary account later without incurring any service fees.

On December 2, Tencent's customer service confirmed that funds transferred into the "WeChat Pay" balance from a bank account can be withdrawn to a bank account without a service fee. Specifically, funds transferred into WeChat Pay's balance can only be withdrawn to the balance itself without any service fee. If the funds are transferred into the balance and then withdrawn to a bank account, the withdrawal fee will be applied according to the rules for withdrawing from the balance.

Tencent's customer service also clarified that when withdrawing from the WeChat balance to a bank account, a service fee is incurred due to transaction costs on the bank's side. To balance costs and ensure sustainability, WeChat Pay charges a withdrawal fee after the free limit is exceeded. The fee is 0.1% of the excess withdrawal amount, with a minimum charge of 0.1 yuan per transaction. For example, withdrawing 100 yuan from the balance incurs a 0.1 yuan fee. All accounts under the same ID are entitled to a lifetime annual free withdrawal limit of 1,000 yuan.
