14 Days + 14 Days - China Tightens Quarantine

On April 6, 2020, according to the State Council, a regulation to strengthen the management of asymptomatic infection of the COVID-19 was issued, which stipulated in detail that all asymptomatic patients are subject to a 14-day centralized quarantine and a 14-day follow-up.


The Announcement


Specific Measures on Asymptomatic Infections Issued by Chinese Government:



  • The Asymptomatic infected should be put under centralized quarantine for 14 days. During the isolation, if they develop any of NCP clinical symptoms, they shall be converted to a confirmed patient, and immediately transferred to a designated medical institution for treatment;


  • The Asymptomatic infected can be released from the 14-day centralized quarantine with two consecutive negative results of nucleic acid tests (at least 24 hours interval);


  • All the close contacts of the asymptomatic infected shall also be put under centralized quarantine for 14 days;


  • The asymptomatic infected who are released from the centralized quarantine shall have a 14-day follow-up given by medical expertise. In addition, they shall go to the designated hospital for further consultation in respectively in the 2nd and the 4th week after discharge so as to have their health status reported timely.
