If You Live in This City, Be Mindful of Its Strict Traffic Rules

Following Shenzhen's "strictest traffic regulations put into effect on November 1st, we take a look at two areas of those regulations officers are already enforcing.

1. Seat belts

Seat belts are a serious matter in Shenzhen, and fastening it doesnt just apply to cars.

Anyone sitting on a public bus must also make sure that their seat belt is on, regardless of whether they are sitting at the front or back.

If the driver or someone else on the bus is not sitting properly with their seat belt on, it may result to a fine.

2. Zebra crossings

As part of the crackdown, Shenzhen traffic police will punish all drivers who disrespect people on the zebra crossings.

Drivers who do not let pedestrians cross the zebra crossing, as per traffic rules, will be fined RMB 500 and lose 3 points.

As a pedestrian, next time youre about to cross the zebra crossing and you sense that the driver isnt going to let you cross, take a look around you and see if you can spot a traffic cop.

You might be able to get that driver fined.
