According to CCTV, when a foreign man entered Shanghai Pudong Airport some time ago, customs officers seized drugs from his luggage. After checking, he was found to be smuggling 1.8 kilograms of cocaine.

At 4PM that day, a flight from Zimbabwe landed at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Customs officers checked the luggage of a Belarusian male passenger. However, some packages within his luggage caught their attention.

"It was summer, so it was suspicious that he packed winter clothing, which reminded us of a recent smuggling case that was cracked by Macau police. Thus, our on-site staff removed the seams of the clothing for inspection.", said a Customs Officer.

During the inspection, customs officers found that there was suspicious white powder on the fibers of the inner liner of the clothes, and a layer of plastic film was also embedded as well.

After an interrogation, the suspect confessed that, not long ago, he was required to take goods from Zimbabwe via Shanghai to Macau by an overseas drug gang on the condition that they provided travel costs and paid an additional $1,000 in remuneration. The man was supposed to receive instructions after arriving in Macau.

As per the Shanghai Customs Anti-smuggling Bureau, this was the first case involving drugs to be smuggled in this way, that they experienced.

Due to this, it is usually difficult to be seen when passing through an X-ray machine. At present, the case is under further trial.
