On September 8th, a story hit the front page of Chinese mainstream media, and it is quite a scene!
In the late night of August 27th, a man with the surnamed Miao, who was born in 1988, went door-to-door and saved over 70 families.
Around 10 PM, Miao was just arriving back home, and was heading to the 14th floor of his apartment building, in Heping District, Shenyang.
When the elevator stopped on the 11th floor, he smelled that something was burning. At that moment, he realized that the situation could become dangerous, as the building had gas tanks on each floor.Thus, he immediately got off to check the situation. He saw smoke billowing into the hallway area and flames leaping up to the ceiling.
Without any hesitation, Miao rushed to knock on the doors, while shouting "Fire!". While doing this, he moved the gas tanks, on both sides of the corridor, out of the way of the fire.
After alerting people, he then went to fight the fire. He rushed in to a neighbor's home to get water with a bucket and then ran back to pour it over the fire, repeatedly.
Thanks to his timely actions, when the firefighters arrived at the scene, the fire had been under control. Learning that everyone was safe, Miao collapsed on the steps, and couldn't stand.
