On September 21st, a woman named Dan (alias) in Hangzhou offered a reward of 10,000 yuan for information about her missing cat. Later, after getting the cat back, due to her neighbors clue, the whole situation became a mess...

On September 6th, Dan found out that her cat Wukong went missing, so she posted a notice in the residential area stating that the cat was family to her, as she had owned it for 5 years. She also stated that she would pay 10,000 Yuan, for the cat's return, as a thanks to the person that helped find it. In addition, if the helper was also a cat person, she would give them a kitten.

On September 21st, Niu discovered the cat was on the outdoor air conditioner of her home and shared the news in the neighbors group. That afternoon, Dan successfully rescued her cat and went to visit Niu to express her gratitude without mentioning the reward.

On the morning of September 22nd, Niu asked Dan for the reward. To her surprise, Dan refused to give the money and claimed that she had transferred it to another neighbor who delivered the news to her.

Dan even sent a screenshot of the transfer to Niu, to make her believe it.

The Cat is Out of the Bag

However, on September 23rd, Niu found that the screenshot might be fake, and the news also became involved.

Under pressure, Dan admitted that she faked the transfer record by photoshopping it as she felt reluctant to pay Niu.

She said she felt this way, as Niu didn't deserve it due to finding the cat by accident. She also stated that Niu didn't take the initiative to look for the cat, and didn't recognize it as the missing cat either. Besides, Niu shared the information in the neighbor WeChat group, rather than informing her directly.

As for Niu, she said she was okay with no reward, but hoped that Dan would apologize to her and be responsible for her commitments in the future.

Under the mediation of the news staff, Dan apologized in the neighbors group, and admitted that she faked the transfer screenshot. Eventually the two sides reconciled their differences.
