If you have recently arrived or are returning to China from high-risk countries and regions like the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, the China CDC is asking you to conduct a 21-day self-health monitoring period starting from your date of entry. During these three weeks, you need to watch out for symptoms such as fever, fatigue, headache, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, or any unexplained bleeding.
If you do happen to develop any of these symptoms, please do not just rush out the door. Before heading to a hospital, you should first call your local CDC or community health service center to receive professional guidance on how to proceed. If you must travel to a medical facility on your own, do your best to avoid public transportation, wear personal protective equipment, and prevent any physical contact with others. Once you are in front of a doctor, you must proactively inform them about your overseas travel history and any suspected contact history.
Medical institutions across China are also on high alert. Doctors who encounter patients showing suspected Ebola symptoms are required to ask about their travel history, where they stayed, and who they might have been in contact with. If they identify anyone who has returned from risk areas like the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, they will immediately report it to the hospital's public health department and the local CDC.
These same prevention and control measures will apply to any newly added countries and regions experiencing an outbreak.
