Foreign Football Talent Passes Away at 28 After Fall from 11th Floor

On April 16, 2025, Zhejiang Football Club released a heartbreaking statement confirming the sudden death of Gabonese striker Aaron Boupendza, currently playing for the Chinese Football Super League club Zhejiang FC. He was just 28 years old.

According to reports, Boupendza tragically fell from the 11th floor of a residential building. The incident occurred around 13:14 in Yuhang District, Hangzhou. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead after unsuccessful emergency treatment.

Local police issued an official bulletin at 22:24 the same evening. After a thorough investigation involving on-site examination, interviews, and surveillance footage, authorities confirmed that the fall occurred from the balcony of Boupendza's rented apartment. The police ruled out any criminal involvement.

Boupendza joined Zhejiang FC in January 2025 from Romania's Fotbal Club Rapid București and had quickly made a mark with 6 appearances, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists. 

Gabon's President expressed his sorrow on social media, 

(translated) "With immense sadness, I learned of the untimely death of the talented Gabonese forward Aaron Boupendza, who brought pride to Gabonese football. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones."

Born on August 7, 1996, Boupendza's football journey spanned clubs across Africa, Europe, and Asia. His life was one of ambition, achievement, and passion for the game.
