Average Employee Salary at Tencent Hits ¥1.02 Million

According to the report, the tech giant repurchased a total of 307,238,500 shares from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange during the year ending December 31, 2024, at a total cost of approximately HKD 112 billion (excluding expenses). Tencent stated that the repurchased shares have since been cancelled, as part of its long-term strategy to enhance shareholder value.
In terms of employment and compensation, Tencent reported a total workforce of 110,558 employees by the end of 2024, an increase of 5,141 compared to 2023. The company's total staff compensation expenditure for 2024 reached RMB 112.8 billion—up RMB 5.1 billion from the previous year's RMB 107.7 billion.
This means the average annual salary per Tencent employee has now hit an impressive RMB 1.02 million.
