WeChat Introduces New Features to Improve User Experience
WeChat has recently rolled out several exciting updates to enhance its user experience, offering more convenience and customization. Let's dive into the latest features!
Easier Storage Management: Clean Up Photos and Videos
On March 7, WeChat launched a helpful new tool on both iOS and Android to assist users in managing their storage.
In the "Me > Settings > General > Storage" section, a new prompt now appears, letting users know that original photos and videos from chats are taking up space. By selecting "Remove," users can choose to delete "Received full images and videos" or "Sent full images and videos." Even after cleaning up, users can still view these items in their regular quality within conversations.
For content deleted within the past 14 days, a "Full Image/Video" button appears in chats, allowing users to re-download the original versions if they wish, within a set timeframe.
Moments: Receive Notifications Only When Friends Interact with You
In February, WeChat introduced an update to Moments that allows users to control notifications more effectively.
When the "Notify only when friends interact with me" setting is activated, users will stop receiving alerts in the Discover section for likes or comments on posts from friends they've previously engaged with. However, these interactions will still be visible in the "Moments Notifications" list. This feature offers a more personalized notification experience, reducing unnecessary alerts.
To enable this option:
Go to [My Moments] > [Three dots in the top right corner] > [Notifications] > [Message Management] > [Notify only when friends interact with me].
Gift-Sending Expanded to Group Chats
In January, WeChat enhanced its "Gift" feature, which was once only available for one-on-one gifting. Now, users can send gifts in group chats as well.
Users can now select the "Gift" option in a group chat, pick a product from the WeChat Mini Store, and send it to the group. They can specify how many gifts to send, and group members can claim them, enter their delivery address, and have them delivered. If a gift goes unclaimed within 24 hours, WeChat automatically refunds the sender.
This update enhances WeChat's social e-commerce features, making it easier to send meaningful gifts through group chats for special occasions like birthdays or holidays.
