Visa Dilemma: Urgent Aid Amidst a Dual Crisis
In the early hours of February 24th, Oskars, who planned to transit through Chongqing to Australia, was denied boarding by the airline. He faced a dual crisis: he had not applied for an Australian visa in advance, and his 30-day visa-free period in China had just expired, putting him at risk of illegal overstay. Upon receiving his request for help, Wen Jing, the duty manager of the Service Operations Department, promptly arrived at the scene to assist him.
After arriving, Wen Jing reassured the distressed traveler, inquired about his situation, and actively coordinated with relevant departments. Upon verifying his personal information, it became clear that he needed to leave China as soon as possible to avoid fines or detention. Given the complexities of his status as a foreign traveler facing border control and visa expiration issues, Wen Jing swiftly reported the situation to higher authorities, initiating a joint effort to resolve the crisis.
Breaking the Deadlock: A New Travel Plan Formulated
To clarify whether Oskars had alternative visa options, Wen Jing reached out to the embassies of Latvia, Australia, and China. It was confirmed that although Australia grants visa exemptions to Latvian citizens, an eVisitor application must be submitted in advance. Since this process required specific documents and a lengthy approval period, Oskars, after careful discussion, decided to adjust his travel plans and head to Finland, a member of the Schengen Agreement.
To ensure a smooth journey for Oskars, Wen Jing contacted multiple departments, including China Southern Airlines and airport security. Once his eligibility for departure was confirmed, she rebooked his entire itinerary. From the initial onsite assistance to arranging accommodation, the process took 10 hours. Finally, Oskars, relieved, gave a thumbs-up and remarked, "My original journey spanned Asia to Oceania, but now I am heading to Europe instead. The visa issues across three continents are finally resolved!"
Service with Warmth: Showcasing International Hospitality
"The emergency response and human-centered approach at Chongqing Airport left a deep impression on me. I am truly grateful! In other countries, I wouldn't even know where to turn for help. No one would be so proactive in assisting me. I sincerely applaud your efficiency, humane management, and exceptional service!" Oskars expressed his heartfelt gratitude to airport staff before boarding his flight.
While maintaining strict safety protocols, the airport also emphasizes humane measures, providing safe, convenient, and warm travel experiences for both domestic and international passengers.
