Moving train hits crane in Shanghai

On Sunday morning, a train operating on Shanghai's Metro Line 11 collided with an arm of a tower crane that had collapsed onto the track, resulting in a service delay, according to the city's metro operator. The operator reported that the incident did not result in any injuries.

The occurrence took place on an aboveground section of the line between the Malu and Wuwei Road stations at approximately 8 a.m. Shanghai Metro reported that the tower crane was involved in a construction project that infiltrated the metro line, resulting in damage to the train and other metro facilities.

The company apologised for the service delay and informed us that the repairs to the facilities would take some time.

The affected stations suspended their services, but the rest of the line remained operational. The arrangement of five bus routes facilitated the transportation of impacted individuals.

A witness informed Xinmin Evening News, a local media outlet, that a dramatic explosion caused the train to come to an emergency halt. According to the witness, passengers were required to travel to the nearest station on foot as a result of the shattered windows near the front of the train. They followed a path adjacent to the track.

China's Ministry of Emergency Management reached out to local fire and rescue squads and first responders and dispatched a working group to oversee their efforts at the site. This required related industries in the city to conduct safety checks, analyse the cause of the incident, and penalise those responsible.
