Man punished for V--P--N use

On August 7, the Shouning County Public Security Bureau's Cybersecurity Brigade and National Security Brigade successfully investigated an administrative case involving unauthorized access to illegal channels for international internet connections and browsing foreign media, which threatened national security.

The arrest of the offender, Gong, prevented the entry of misleading foreign information into the country and enhanced the online environment.

While doing normal work in early July, authorities discovered that Gong had illegally accessed foreign websites in 2020.

After receiving this information, the police took Gong to the Shouning County Public Security Bureau for an investigation. After the investigation, Gong admitted to using "V--P--N" software to illegally browse foreign websites and information.

According to Articles 14 and 6 of the "Provisional Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of International Networking of Computer Information Networks," the Shouning County Public Security Bureau properly penalised Gong.

Officers remind everyone: The law applies on the internet! Foreign websites may promote feudal superstitions, obscenity, and brutal violence.

To establish a clean and positive online environment, internet users should use platforms properly, practice proper online conduct, and browse the internet civilly and sustainably.

The article also reports that Once you have engaged in "V--P--N" behaviour, it will leave a trace. A "V--P--N" is unlawful and a violation of regulations, regardless of the purpose—whether it is to learn something new, research information, or even if you did not browse at all. Transmit this reminder to those in your vicinity.
