On June 6, the 6th Yangtze River Delta Integration Development High-Level Forum was held in Wenzhou. The forum announced a list of 10 practical projects, including the implementation of a 144-hour visa-free transit policy for foreigners throughout the region.

The tenth item on the list states: Eligible foreigners with valid international travel documents and connecting flight tickets with confirmed dates and seats within a specified timeframe, departing to a third country or region through any designated port in the Yangtze River Delta region, may stay visa-free for up to 144 hours (6 days) in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui, enjoying conveniences for short-term business negotiations, cultural exchanges, sightseeing tourism, and visiting relatives and friends.
Initially approved by the State Council in January 2016, the 144-hour visa-free policy allowed travelers from 54 countries to enter or exit through designated ports in Shanghai, Nanjing, and Hangzhou without a visa, enabling them to stay for up to six days in Shanghai and the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang. The policy expanded in December 2019 to include Ningbo Airport as part of the initiative to support the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
