In a touching display of maternal devotion, a mother in her sixties from Yunnan province, China, has been carrying her 34-year-old paralyzed son on her back for years to help him learn to walk after a brain hemorrhage in 2019. Deng Guiying's husband, also disabled, couldn't assist, so she took on the task alone, creating a strict daily routine and even wearing high heels to match her son's height during walking exercises with a second-hand walking aid.
Despite the physical demands, Deng and her son Cai Qinquan underwent two 40-minute training sessions daily. Their story resonated deeply on Chinese social media, with many praising the "great" love of a mother and expressing motivation to work harder in their own lives.
The family's perseverance paid off when a Chinese company donated an exoskeleton device worth 1.5 million yuan (US$207,000) to improve Cai's walking speed and balance. Such heartwarming tales of parental sacrifice are common in China, often capturing the public's attention and admiration.
