Foreigners Can Now Set Up Personal Housing Fund Accounts Online

Starting from June 6th, foreign residents in Shanghai holding a "Permanent Residence Permit" can now establish personal housing provident fund accounts.

Step 1. 

Search for "Establishment of Personal Housing Provident Fund Account (个人住房公积金账户设立)" on the Shanghai "Government Online-Offline Shanghai Service (一网通办)" portal, and click on the corresponding item. Then, proceed by clicking on "Apply Now (立即办理)" to enter the application page.

Step 2.

Read through the instructions for application and proceed to fill in the required information.

Step 3.

The "intelligent guidance" feature will help you through the application process step by step, and it will also conduct a preliminary check of the required documents.

Step 4.

In the smart form-filling page, the "Document Type" can be set to "Permanent Residence Permit".

Step 5.

The "Individual Account Setup" for foreign nationals has been successfully completed.
