On June 14, Beijing Public Security Exit-Entry Administration released a Q&A regarding the issuance of the new version of the Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card (commonly known as the "Five-Star Card").
Apart from the three main municipal halls, you can also handle it at the local branch immigration departments. The addresses are as follows:
2.After the new version of the 'Five-Star Card' is launched, can the current version of the permanent residence permit still be used?"
After the issuance of the 'Five-Star Card,' the current version of the permanent residence permit can still be used within its validity period. Holders can apply for the replacement with the 'Five-Star Card' as needed."
3.After replacing with the new version of the 'Five-Star Card,' do I need to cut the corners or return the old card?
After approval of the application for replacement of the 'Five-Star Card' by foreign permanent residents, the issuing authority will either cut the corners of the old card (cutting a right-angled triangle measuring 2.5cm * 2.5cm in the lower right corner of the photo layout) or collect it when issuing the new card to the applicant (or their authorized representative).
