Main Color of the Dress
The main color of Chinese wedding dress & decoration settings is bright red, the traditional and sacred color. As you may know red is the most favored color by Chinese as it represents happiness, vigor, life and bright delighted mood in Chinese culture. To be used in Chinese weddings, red is also considered as a symbol of good fortune that drives evil spirits away. The traditional Chinese wedding dress in northern Chinese usually is a one-piece frock named Qipao(), which is red mainly and embroidered with elaborate gold and silver design. Brides in Southern China prefer to wear a two-piece dress named Qungua or QunKwa(), as they are often elaborately adorned with gold dragon and phoenix, so they are often called longfeng gua() namely dragon phoenix coat in modern China.
