More Patients Discharged, Recovered

Twenty novel coronavirus patients were discharged from Jinyintan Hospital in Wuhan on Friday, the highest number of recovered patients at one time.


A 55-year-old woman was discharged on Thursday from a hospital in Guangzhou, the first to recover in the city. She fell ill 19 days ago. After treatment, she tested negative on Jan 25, 26 and 27 and discharged on 30.


Ningbo reported its first case of recovery on Friday, bringing the total number of cured patients in the province to 10 so far.


Wenzhou announced on Thursday four patients infected with novel coronavirus have been cured and discharged from local hospitals.

Spain, Sweden Report First Cases

Spain has confirmed the country's first case of the novel coronavirus, the health ministry said late on Friday.


The first case of the coronavirus has also been confirmed in Sweden.


Swedens Public Health Agency said on Friday that a woman had tested positive for the virus. She had visited Wuhan City in China and experienced cough symptoms after arriving in Sweden.

China Send Planes for Stranded Citizens


The Chinese government will send chartered planes overseas to bring stranded Chinese citizens from Hubei Province, particularly those from Wuhan, back home.


16 Foreigners Under Quarantine


Eighty-six passengers and crew members aboard Malindo Air Flight OD688 from Sabah, Malaysia which arrived in Tianjin on Saturday were isolated after landing.  The isolation happened due to one Wuhan passenger onboard showing fever. 


Sixteen Malaysian and Bolivian passengers were among those isolated and placed under observation in a hotel in Tianjin's Dongli district, triggering concerns from foreigners in the city.


HK Postpones Schools 


Primary and secondary schools and preschools in Hong Kong will remain closed until March 2 while civil servants will be allowed to work from home until Feb 9, the city's Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor announced on Friday.


Holiday Further Extended


China has greenlighted an additional extension of the Spring Festival holiday in Hubei province and other provincial areas seeing quick spikes in new infections, it was decided at a high-level meeting in Beijing on Friday.


6,000 People Barred from Disembarking


6,000 people were barred from disembarking from the Carnival-owned Costa Corp mega-ship Costa Smeralda in Italy after two passengers on the ship, a 54-year-old woman and her husband from Hong Kong, were tested for the virus.


US Imposes Entry Restrictions 


The U.S has imposed entry restrictions over coronavirus, foreign nationals who visited China in past 14 days will be barred from entering, while Americans who visited province at center of outbreak will be quarantined


US Declares Public Health Emergency


The Trump administration declared a public health emergency in the U.S. Friday in response to the global coronavirus outbreak.


The declaration of a public health emergency which will become effective Sunday at 5 p.m. ET enables the government to take temporary measures to contain the spread of the virus, which has been confirmed in seven people in the U.S.


US Airlines Suspend China Flights


American, Delta, and United Airlines announced they would temporarily suspend all flights to and from China 


American Airlines said it would suspend all flights to and from the Chinese mainland through March 27th, though acknowledged that adjustments may be necessary. Delta said it would suspend flights between February 6th and April 30th. United Airlines said it will suspend flights between February 6th and March 28th.
